What is a CBT?

For those that are unaware, we are more than happy to provide a brief education regarding CBT tests in Hitchin, and explain as to why they are so important. Having first been introduced in December 1990 by the government, the acronym stands for Compulsory Basic Training; the thought process behind its conception was to try and combat a rising number of accidents involving either motorcycles and mopeds. Not only this, but its aims also included improving the overall competency of those that rode two-wheeled vehicles. When you come to Book CBT Now, you will have the opportunity to browse through various test-taking opportunities across the country - if you would like to book your space now, we invite you to do so on our website.

Is CBT a test or an evaluation?

Contrary to popular belief, a CBT is more of an evaluation than a test; your instructor will, throughout the day, observe your abilities and, if you complete the day to the required competency, you shall be awarded a pass certificate (professionally known as a DL196). A CBT certificate is valid for two years and once you have completed your full motorcycle examination, you will no longer have to renew your CBT. However, if you do not carry on your training in Hitchin, you will be required to re-sit your CBT test after two years.

Will there by other learners with me?

On the day of your CBT test in Hitchin there may be others training with you, with a maximum of four per classroom, instructor aside. When you subsequently take to the road, there are permitted to be two learners per instructor. This is in order to give a slightly more realistic scenario, as well as giving you someone to talk to, which can help with nerves.
