We have all the information here for you to find suitable motorcycle CBT training close to you or nearby in Fairfield, Chapel en le Frith and Shallcross. Completing your 'Compulsory Basic Training' CBT test will allow you to ride any scooter, moped, electric motorbike, 50cc moped or 125cc motorbike of your choice. All you'll need to do is get a provisional UK license, suitable clothing and then book your CBT.

How long does a CBT Test Take?

A CBT test can normally be completed in a day, but may take longer if you need more time to master the control of the motorcycle or moped. Knowing how to ride a bicycle will really help, so if you have not ridden one for a while it's a good thing to do before you take your CBT.

If you do not complete your CBT to the instructors satisfaction then you will be asked to come back on another day for additional training. If this happens do not be alarmed or upset, some people take longer to master control of a two wheeled vehicle than others, but we all get there in the end. The most important thing to remember is its for your safety. Your instructor will be thinking of your safety if they ask you to come back for additional training.

When were CBTs introduced?

CBT tests were introduced at the tail-end of 1990 and stands for Compulsory Basic Training. The thinking behind them was to try and reduce the number of motorcycle and moped accidents. Not only this, but it helps in giving people of all different ages a better basic understanding relating how to best control a two-wheeled machine.

Will there by other learners with me?

On the day of your CBT test in Buxton there may be others training with you, with a maximum of four per classroom, instructor aside. When you subsequently take to the road, there are permitted to be two learners per instructor. This is in order to give a slightly more realistic scenario, as well as giving you someone to talk to, which can help with nerves.
